Carseats, Ugh

Car seats are annoying.
Now listen to the whole thing. :)

When you have 2 kids, it doesn't matter what car seat you have, or how big it is, or any of that jazz.

Now, picture this...
you have 2 kids, who need car seats/boosters and boom, you have 3 more kids under the age 3 who need the big full harness car seats alongside  your 7 and 4 1/2 year old who need the boosters.

Uh sorry, but....that does not fit very well in my supposedly 7 passenger van!

Why do they have to make them so wide and huge and stupidly shaped!

I think we may have made it work to get them all in there. But the real test will come when we actually try to load all 5 car seated children in the van tomorrow.

And...I'm all for safety and stuff, but I think they are getting a little bit ridiculous here.  Things would be much easier if my 7 year old didn't need the booster.  We'd fit in the vehicle much better. :)

I mean, seriously, when I was growing up.....not to date myself or anything....we rode around in  the back of a station wagon without a seat belt, and I'm still alive! :)   Or we would ride in the back of a car equipped with only 3 seat belts that 4 of us would 'share'.  Again, I'm still alive.

Thanks....it was great to put those 2cents out there. :)

We pulled into a store parking lot and another vehicle beside
us rolled down their window and threw some trash right out onto the ground!!!

SERIOUSLY?!?!

Is the world your garbage can?

First Urgent Care Trip

I can not tell you how many times I've asked all 3 of my boys to not play so rough.
And then of course the standard line...
"It's not going to be much fun anymore when someone gets hurt!"

Well this was no exception.  However, they hadn't been rough housing even long enough for me to give the standard lecture. :)  lol

I hear a loud bang, then a loud cry followed by a loud panicky shout for me to come help!  I come over and help grab Monkey to bring him to the bathroom all the while blood is pouring out his head and down my shirt.  We grab a towel to help stop the blood from getting all over everything else, get in the van and drive to urgent care.

I run in carrying Monkey and go up to the desk.
The lady nonchalantly says, what happened?
I tell her, she then says what where they doing?
-my thought-Seriously?  Is that really important right now?
She then asks who his doctor is, child name and birth date, who's the insurance under and what's his birthdate and type of insurance?
-my thought-Seriously?  Can you ask a few more questions, while my son is bleeding from his head!

We go into the room and Monkey lays on the bed while the nurse starts to clean it up.  She gives me a cotton ball with numbing medicine on it and asked me to hold it on the cut for about 10 minutes.
When she leaves the room he was concerned that we wouldn't be able to go to our church hayride.  Funny that he was thinking about that. :)
Then she comes in and puts 3 staples in.  She asked me what I prefer staples or stitches.  Staples are easier to put in and remove when on the head.  She said there really wasn't much difference besides they were easier.  So we went with staples.

Here they are.

He can't get it wet for 24 hours.  Otherwise he should really be good as new.  I'll just have to keep the horseplay under wraps for a few days while this heals.

'Small' Town

I am so glad I live in a small town.

And by small I mean, not that big of a town.

Owatonna, is not really a small town by my standards really because I grew up in a FOR REAL small town.  Only 300 people.  But after living in Des Moines and now in Owatonna, comparatively Owatonna is a small town. :)

Today we were on our way back from visiting family in Little Falls.  On the way home you have to go through the Twin Cities.  Unfortunately I was coming through at around 5pm....super bad time to be driving through the Twin Cities!  Their rush "Hour" is from 3-6 or maybe even longer.  Anyway.....side track.....  Here I was anxious to get home, with lots to do right when I got home, and stuck in traffic.  If that is not bad enough....The kids start piping in....
"Why aren't we moving?"
"Are you going the speed limit?"
" Why did you do that?"
"Can't you just get over?"

AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Seriously?!?

Do I really have to answer all these questions from a 3 and 6 year old, who have zero driving experience?

Not that it's really that bad for them to be curious about what's going on, but I had so many other things on my mind that I was previously frustrated about that these questions were not coming at a very good time.    All is well, just take a deep breath. :)

Seriously?!? v2

Remember this?

There are so many little times when I tell my kids to do something and they either do nothing, or the exact opposite.  And these moments are when you look at them and say, Seriously?!  Then there are times when you are at the store and you see something or someone, and all you can really think is.....Seriously?! :)

Today they are just funny instances.....

We are playing outside in the sprinkler and we told Monkey to try and dry off so we could put sun screen on him.  We were sitting in the shade and he says....”Where’s the sun?” ----Seriously?!?!

My sister told her daughter to go clean up a few things in the garage.  She responded, “what garage?”  ----Seriously?!?!

Bear got his finger pricked a couple weeks ago.  When we went to get in the van, I opened the door for him and he just stood there and looked at me.
Me- Get in, Bear.
Bear- Can you help me get in the car?
Me- Why do you need help?
Bear- Because I have an owie on my finger.
Me- An owie on your finger makes your feet not work?!?
Bear- No.
Me- Then I think you can get in by yourself. :)
Seriously?!?  Hahahaha

We were in the pool and I asked Monkey to not kick so hard when he goes under so he's not splashing everyone.  Ok Mom.  Then he dives under again, and kicks his feet above water splashing everyone.
Seriously?!

Me- Bear, I want you to go up stairs, put your dry clothes on, and then come back down here with your swim trunks so I can hang them on the line to dry.  Ok?
Bear- OK
Me- So, what are you going to do?
Bear- Obey my parents.
Seriously?!?

This is a totally classic Bear move.  He wants to "please" you with his words, so he will say Ok Mom, or Yes, Mom.  But then continue to stand there, or go and do something else.  Because he's not really listening.  That's why we usually like to have them repeat back to us what we asked them to do. :)

Dusting

I dust every once in a while. But probably not as much as I should. Especially now that we are home all day and there is more dust flying around. I'm still just not used to having to dust that frequently. When you both work full time and are always gone the dust doesn't really collect that quickly. Now it collects in 1 day it seems like. I know its been long enough that I should be used to dusting, but it's also annoying, so I might not be trying that hard to remember every day. :)

We got a new stand for our T.V. and it is black. Well, that is a terrible color for dust. I can see it much more clearly now than before than before on the brown wooden T.V. stand. So if anything I try to dust that off a lot! Well I must have gone 2 days or something without dusting it, and I went to grab the dusting cloth, and when I get up to the T.V. stand.....drum roll please. It says DUST ME!

Are you kidding me?!?!?

If it wasn't me there is only 1 other person who knows how to write and spell in this house. And I'm pretty sure, that "other" person knows where the dusting mitt is! :)
